Learn to play 3 common Arabic rhythm patterns from the ground up through drills and combos. We will also cover use of the “the bridge” and pattern variation for musical interest. This class will provide you with practice strategies and follow up material to continue your zill study on your own. Bring your zills. A few loaner sets will be available.
10:45 – 12:15 pm – “Bellydance Anatomy & Injury Prevention”
Learn to dance stronger and safer! We’ll cover muscles important to bellydance with regard to great arm flow, confident posture and juicy core movement while protecting your hips, back, knees and ankles. Material covers anatomy, strengthening, stretching and the application of biomechanical principles to all styles bellydance movement.
Mahin holds a B.S. in Exercise & Wellness and is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer
12:30 – 2:00 pm – “Full On with 3/4 Shimmies!”
Whether you dance cabaret, tribal or fusion, 3/4 shimmies add a level of crisp, cool complexity to your dance! We will do a complete breakdown of a variety of 3/4 walking shimmies, including covering foot pattern variations and layering. Once you learn how to analyze and progressively approach this type of movement, you will be able to master (and teach) ANY 3/4 walking shimmy without frustration and with impressive results!
